5/9 Newfound 19 Gilford 1 Newfound 12U got it's first victory of the season with a huge offensive performance and great pitching and defense. Autumn Jerry & Kaitlyn Welch took the mound to shut down the Gilford team. Gabby Tetreault led the defense making 2 impressive double plays. Offensive was led by Brittany McArthur who scored 4 runs and Fallon Adair who had 3 hits including a double. The game ended with an amazing catch from the shortstop Allie Symonds. 5/7 Newfound 7 Plymouth 10 Newfound 12U had a great first game with everyone putting the bat on the ball, but came up just short against Plymouth. Autumn Jerry pitched 3 scoreless innings and looked great out on the mound. Kaitlyn Welch scored 2 runs to lead the offense and Sara Vassey was outstanding in the field.
5/5/08 Dead River Jaguars 17 Gilly's Restaurant 4 In Newfound 10U softball action, the Dead River Jaguars defeated a tough Gilly's Restaurant Cougars team 17-4 Monday night. While the Cougars played extremely well, it was not easy going behind the 8 strike out performance of Jaguar pitcher Olivia Schofield and the outstanding play of Jaguar catcher Samantha Cote whose multiple tag outs at the plate kept the Cougars from scoring more runs. The hits of the game came from Cougars Katie O’Neil who crushed an inside fast ball to left field to begin a last inning Cougars rally and by the Jaguar’s Bridget Lavin whose speedy base running led to a late inning base clearing home run. Defensively for the Cougars, Catcher Sydnie Comeau was outstanding behind the plate along with Paige Bruno’s strong play from the circle.

Bats were alive scoring 14 point to secure an early win. All around good playing by the team. 5/31 Indians 9 Orioles 5 Blue Jays defeate Cardinals 5/30 Blue Jays 0 Indians 1 5/28 Orioles 7 Cardinals 5 Another exciting game for the Orioles! After a rocky start giving up an early lead, the Orioles came back to win behind 4 shut-out innings of Zack Desrochers pitching – The sixth inning James Horne came in and shut them down to secure the win. The Cards got hits from Justin Hanser, Hadyen Berry, Sam Avery & then a base clearing triple from Nick Tapply to lead the offense. 5/19 Orioles 19 Blue Jays 3 A cold, wet game – but the O’s soared by the Blue Jays with a score of 19 – 3. Great pitching by Nick MacDonald and James Horne. Bats came alive late in the game again to secure the win. 5/17 Orioles 14 Indians 2 Orioles were flying on all cylinders! Another great double play by the O’s! Great pitching from Teddy Parson, Anthony Talamini & Zach Desrochers. Bats came alive scoring 10 runs in the 5th inning to secure the game. Cardinals 3 Blue Jays 4 It was a good game Saturday with the Blue Jays taking on the Cardinals. The Cardinals started out strong taking the lead early on with Sam Avery on the mound, but the Blue Jays didn’t back down. A delayed steal by Matt Pritchard in the 4th inning, brought the Blue Jays back into the game. A great game was had by Nick Quinn who made some key catches in the field and the Blue Jays got some key hits when they needed it. Pitching for the Cardinals were Sam Avery, Nick Tapply and Hayden Berry. Pitching for the Blue Jays were Caleb Merrill, Cullen Downing and Nick Monty. The final score was Blue Jays 4 and Cardinals 3. 5/14 Indians defeated Blue Jays 5/12 Cardinals 8 Orioles 2 The Cardinals got the victory on Monday night behind solid pitching from Josh Drake in the first 4 innings and Nick Tapply closed out the last 2. The Cards played their best defensive game of the year. Orioles got good pitching from Makiah Morrill, Brendan Henss & James Horne, but just couldn't get the bats going. Overall it was a good game. 5/10 Indians defeated Cardinals Cardinals defeated Indians The Indians and Cardinals split a double header on Saturday afternoon at Wells. Blue Jays 14 Orioles 4 The Blue Jays were able to hand the Orioles their first loss of the season with a great overall game. The Orioles got good pitching from Lance Roy, Nick MacDonald & Zach Desrochers, but some errors in the field led to too many runs for the Jays. O's still had a another exciting game, they're having fun and looking forward to Monday night's game! 5/9 (made up from 4/28) Orioles 14 Blue Jays 11 The Orioles moved to 3-0 with a win in a great game over the Blue Jays. O's got solid pitching from Kyle Lyford &Brendan Hess with Zach Desrochers coming in to close. James Horne provided the offense for the Orioles, hitting an inside the park home-run knocking in two runs. O's also got a double play from Ian Davis and Makiah Morrill. For the Blue Jays, Nick Quinn contributed with his first his of the season and Keaton Porter made an amazing catch in the outfield saving what could have been another inside the park homerun from James Horne. 5/7 Blue Jays 10 Cardinals 7 Cards jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 3 innings. Hayden Berrry pitched the first three innings not giving up a hit, but timely hitting from Noah Merrill and Mark Mcmenamen helped the Blue Jays take the lead in the 5th. Cards didn't go down quietly though - scoring 2 in the bottom of the 6th, but it just wasn't enough. 5/5 Indians 4 Orioles 7 The Orioles moved to 2-0 on the season with good pitching from Nick DiCiccio, Anthony Talamini & James Horne. The O's also showed some great defense turning a great double play in the field! It was a well contested game with solid defense on both sides. 5/3 Blue Jays tied Indians Orioles 14 Cardinals 3 The Orioles got off to a strong start defeating the Cardinals on opening day. Nick MacDonald started pitching & Zach Desrochers came in for relief. For the O's offense, Anthony Talamini was 3 for 3, Zach Desrochers was 3 for 3 with an inside the park homerun and James Horne was also 3 for 3. The Orioles team put in a great performance on the field and at bat.

Owen McMahon hits a double and a single. Leo Ntourntourekas and Dustin Bucklin both hit doubles. Matt Reed stays strong with 2 base hits, and John Nesteruk breaks out of the box with 3 base hits and going 3 for 3. Dbacks Defense- We had Matt Reed, Ricky Deluca, Nick Lyman all on the mound. With Nick and Matt both stopping the steal home with great tags at the plate while catching. D-Backs did a good job catching fly balls and being sure to get the lead runner when making plays. Offense...Jacob Hughes launches one to left center for a 2 run in the park Homer. Owen McMahon with 3 base hits.Matt Reed with an rbi single and Dustin Bucklin steals home after his base hit to right center. 5/22 Diamondbacks 8 Tigers 9 5/20 Mets 4 Cubs 6 Mets open the first with a bang, when Tyler “T” Adams hits an inside the park homerun, to give the Mets an early lead. But Cubs catcher, Devon “Johnny Bench” Kraemer, throws a laser to second, throwing out a Met runner, and helping bring a close to the Met inning. Bottom half of the 1st and the Cubs put two on the score board when Devon “Devastator” Kraemer, and Noah “Mr. Big” Fogg, each score giving the Cubs a one run lead after one. Top of the second and Mets first baseman, Zach “Thunder” Plante, lines a single to the outfield to get things started. Three Mets later it’s Isaiah “Big-I” Gorman ripping a single and driving in the tying run. Cubs starting pitcher, Jarod “J-Rod” Fairbank, works three solid innings as he strikes out 8 Mets and allows only 2 runs. Bottom of the 4th and the Cubs add two runs to the tally when Nate” The Glove” Desrocher and “J-Rod” both score, making it 4-2 Cubs. Bottom of the 5th and Cubs hit the score board again when Anthony “ Doc” White, and Matt “Boomer” Reed, tally two more runs giving the Cubs a 6-2 lead in a thrilling game. Mets come to the plate, down 4, and looking to get it back. Mets catcher, Steven “Taz” Tassey and Zach “Thunder” Plante, each score making it a 6-4 Cubs game. Aaron “A-Train” Lane helps keep Met hopes alive by reaching first on a walk. But in the end Cub closer, Devon “Not Today” Kraemer, closes down the Met attack helping the Cubs keep the lead. 5/18 Mets 12 Diamondbacks 8 For the D-backs: Offensively....Matt Reed hits a 3rbi triple and two base hits collecting another rbi. Owen McMahon and Jacob Hughes with 2base hits each, Dustin Bucklin and Ricky Deluca both with base hits. Defense...On the Mound Owen McMahon and Jacob Hughes both did a great job pitching. Nick Lyman tags out an attempted steal at home plate. Jacob Hughes and Leo Ntourntourekas get together to get a runner at 1st. 5/17 Mets 15 Tigers 13 Mets open up the top of the first with a lead off guru, Zach “Plankton” Allen, reaching first on a base hit. Two batters later it’s Steven “Hoss” Tassey lining a single to right field driving in two runs and making it 3-0 Mets. Two outs later it’s Mets third baseman, Dan ”Big-D” Holton, ripping a single to drive in the 5th Met run of the inning. Bottom half of the 1st and the Tigers’ lead man, Blair “BB” Berube, helps the Tigers get on the board when he scores off a Cameron “Dice-C” Colby single, making it a 5-1 game. With two outs for the Tigers the “Dice-Man” Cameron Colby, steals home giving the Tigers a second run on the inning. Bottom of the 2nd and Tiger hitter, Aiden “Heavy-D” Desmond, hits a shot to left center. Now on third, with a triple and no outs, Shawn “Chipmunk” Smith makes a sacrifice hit driving in the 3rd Tiger run of the game. Tiger hitter, Micah “MG” Griffiths, adds the 4th Tiger run when he steals home. Mets fire off the 3rd when Mike “Mikey-D” Donnelly walks, and Tyler “Diesel” Adams hits an inside the park homerun making it 7-4 Mets. Steven Tassey rips a triple to right field and then scores off an Isaiah “I-Man” Gorman single. Mets hitters, Aaron “A-Train” Lane and Dan “Big-D” Holton, add two more runs making it 11-4 Mets. Tiger bottom half of the inning and Tate “Tater” Miller singles to start it off. Two batters later Jared “J-Bird” Prince reaches first, keeping the rally going. Tiger hitters, Corey “Go” Getman, Aiden Desmond, and Micah Griffiths help the Tigers make it an 11-9 game. Top of the 4th and Mets’ Zachery Allen, Mike Donnelly, and Zachary “Z” Plante help the Mets tally 4 more runs making it 15-9. It’s “Tiger Time” and Jared Prince, Ben “Big- Ben” Morrill, and Michal “Bo” Bowen keep the Tigers in it, helping tally three Tiger runs for the inning. The 5th and 6th innings see Tiger reliever, Cameron “Dice-C” Colby, shut down the Met offense striking out six and keeping it a close game. Last raps for the Tigers and trailing 15-12, Tiger hitter, Blair “BB” Berube, delivers an inside the park homerun making it a 15-13 game. Met relief pitcher, Tyler “Diesel” Adams, finds the groove striking out 3 on the inning and helps close out the game on the Tigers. Diamondbacks 10 Cubs 13 The Cubs saw their team really come together for an impressive team victory over the Dbacks. Strong pitching and a defense that didn't have any errors led to a victory for the Cubs. 5/15 Tigers 6 Cubs 17 5/13 Diamondbacks 8 Mets 10 Nick Lyman on base 4 for 4 by taking 2 for the team and 2 solid base hits, Owen McMahon got on 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 base hits, Ricky Deluca 2 for 4 with a base hit and a walk, Matt Reed 2 for 4 with 2 base hits, Jacob Hughes on 3 for 4 with 3 base hits, Trey Emerson 3 for 4 with a sacrifice and 2 walks, John Nesteruk and Dustin Bucklin both contributing with base hits. 5/11 (made up from 4/29) Mets 9 Cubs 8 Top of the first and two outs, Met Tyler “T” Adams singles for the start of a Met surge. Two batters later, Matt Vassey slashes a single, driving in two Met runs. Zach “Zeke” Plante, Dan Holton, and Aaron “A-train” Lane all add to the Met tally making it 5-0 Mets, after one. After 3 innings of play Mets lead 6-0. Met pitcher, Tyler “Diesel” Adams, throws a gem over 3 innings striking out 9. Top of the 4th and the Mets are at it again. Robby “Rocket” Duquette, Dan Holton, and Zach “Zeke” Plante each score to make it 9-0 Mets and what looks like a good lead. Oh, but wait!! Bottom half of the 4th and the Cubs answer the call. Keegan Tracy draws a walk and the next Cub hitter, Isaiah “I-man” Peabody, singles. The Cubs are on the go! Dylan Leary and Jarrod Fairbank also add to the Cub offense. With 4 runs in, Cubs’ Anthony White and Matt “Big-Mac” Macdonald score to give the Cubs 6 runs on the inning, making it a 9-6 game. Cub relief ace, Devon “Devo” Kraemer, comes in and strikes out 3 in the 5th to hold the Mets, and help keep the Cubs close. Bottom of the 5th and with one out, Cub hitter Nate Desrochers draws a walk keeping the Cubs’ hope alive. Met relief pitcher, Matt Vassey, gets the next Cub batter to hit a grounder to first where Met first baseman, Tyler Adams, makes the force play to score the second out of the inning. Cubby hitter, Jarod Fairbank, draws a walk to put a second Cub runner on the bases and bring the tying run to the plate. The 5th Cub hitter of the inning, Noah “The Hope” Fogg, gets the Cub fans cheering, ripping a triple to left-center and driving in 2 more Cub runs making it a 9-8 game. Mets now look to relief pitcher, Mike “Hammer” Donnelly, to help bring the Cub rally to a close; and the “Hammer” does just that, striking out the last Cub hitter bringing an end to an exciting game. 5/10 Cubs 17 Mets 5 Mets second baseman, Zach “Plankton” Allen, makes a great diving play on a fly ball to help keep the Cub offense in check in the top half of the first. Mets offense gets two runs in the bottom of the first inning when Tyler “T” Adams and Mike Donnelly score off a Steven “Steve-O” Tassey single. Mets lead a 2-0 after one. Top of the second and Cubby, Dylan Leary, reaches base on a walk to lead off the Cub offense. Jarrod Fairbank drives home his teammate with a sharp single, making it a 2-1 game. Bottom of the second and a lone Met, batter known as “Plankton” (Zach Allen), hits a single to start it off. “Plankton” steals second, then third, and with two out steals home to make it a 3-1 game. Top of the 4th and Cub bats are rocking. Jarrod “Hit-Man” Fairbank, Noah Fogg, and Isaiah “I-man” Peabody all reach base. Bases loaded and only one out, Cub’s Matt “Big-Mac” Macdonald” and Devon “Devo” Kraemer drive in runs making it a tie game 3-3. Keegan Tracy and Dillon Delage help round out the Cub surge making it 9-3. Mets half of the inning and Matt Vassey, along with Robby “Rocket” Duquette, each score to get the Mets a little closer. After 4 innings of play, it is 9-5 Cubs. Innings 5 and 6 see Cub hitters Curtis Robarge, Isaiah Peabody, and Noah Fogg help build a 17-5 lead for the Cubs. Mets hitters work hard to comeback, but Cub closer, Jarrod Fairbank, strikes out 3 over the last two, shutting down the Mets. Tigers 4 Diamonbacks 9 The Diamondbacks moved to 3-0 with another victory on Saturday. Dback Nick Lyman had his 1st day at the mound and faced 6 batters, allowing no hits, 5k's and a fly out to Ricky Deluca on 2nd base. Next on the mound for the Dbacks was Owen McMahon who struck out 6 of the 9 batters he faced and Matt Reed finished off the Tigers in the top of the 6th allowing only 2 base hits and then 3k's to end the game. Offensively for the Dbacks, Nick Lyman had 2 base hits and a triple with Owen McMahon adding a base hit and 2 doubles. Ricky Deluca, Matt Reed, Leo Ntourntourekas, Cole Eastman, Jacob Hughes, and John Nesteruk all contributed with base hits for the Diamondbacks as well. 5/8 Cubs 13 Diamondbacks 16 Dbacks got their second win of the season behind solid plays on defense including Leo Ntourntourekas turning a double play, Nick Lyman throwing out a base runner on third and the play of the day by Trey Emerson making a great catch on a line drive hit to center field. The Dbacks bats were strong again with Jacob Hughes hitting a triple and Trey Emerson hitting an rbi double. 5/6 Tigers 4 Mets 5 After one inning of play, and the score at a tie, the Tiger offense kicks off the top half of the second with two runs. Corey “Go” Getman and Aiden Desmond each score, giving the Tigers a 3-1 lead. Top of the 3rd and Tiger Blair “BB” Berube triples to lead off the inning. Peyton Kirby follows with a single, driving in the 4th Tiger run of the game. Bottom of the 3rd , and down 4-1, Mets batters Aaron “A-rod” Lane, Isaiah Wyatt and Mike Donnelly each reach base loading them with no outs. The fifth Mets batter of the inning, Zach Plante, draws a walk forcing in their second run of the game. Steven “Hoss” Tassey drives in three Met runs on a sharp single to center, giving the Mets a 5-4 lead. Mets defense settles down in the last three innings after sharp play from right fielder, Zachery “Zevaughn” Allen, as he makes a great play knocking down a hit that was sure to be extra bases. Tiger catcher, Peyton Kirby, and Mets catcher, Tyler “T” Adams, both turn in strong games making it difficult for both teams’ offense to really get rolling. Tiger pitcher, Aiden Desmond, throws three innings striking out 7; Tiger relief pitcher, Cameron “Dice-C” Colby, throws two innings striking out 6; and Mets starter, Steven “Hoss” Tassey, throws six innings striking out 14. 5/3 Mets Diamondbacks Rescheduled to 5/18, 5pm @ Wells 5/2 Tigers defeated Cubs 5/1 Diamondbacks 11 Tigers 10 The Dbacks had some great defensive plays with Owen McMahon turning a spectacular double play & Nick Lyman throwing out a base runner stealing 3rd. Offensively, the Dbacks were powered by Matt Reed who hit a triple and a timely 2 RBI double and Nick Lyman also contributed with 2 RBI double. |
